Lovingkindness Meditation

I recently have a number of patients say they wanted to try meditating but didn’t know where to start. With the start of a new school year, whether your kids are doing in-classroom, online or homeschooling, it’s bringing a new kind of stress that we’ve never encountered before. Taking some time to meditate can be a great recharge to your nervous system and wellbeing.

I’m accustomed to doing one type of meditating but recently decided to branch out and try something new–call me daring!  This particular style is called, “Lovingkindness meditation” and is led by the renowned author and Buddhist meditation leader Sharon Salzberg. In this meditation you are encouraged to repeat a phrase such as “may I have mental happiness” or “may I feel safe”.

I think this is a wonderful option for those people who need some guidance and desire a simple straightforward approach.
