Feeling the ‘heat’ on your overdue due date?

For most pregnant women, their baby’s do not arrive on their expected due date or are overdue. This can make the mom to be begin to feel the ‘heat’. The ‘heat’ can be pressure from their own expectations and medical expectations as well as from family and friends.

There can be many reasons why an expectant mom can go overdue; baby is not in an ideal position, mom is tired or sick, and the list goes on.

1.  Do your best to take appropriate time off of work prior to the due time: Many mommies are in go-mode right up until the day before the due date. Honour yourself and take some time to see family and friends and do some self-care in the last few weeks.

2.  Sit at attention! Slouching or sitting back in a reclined position can encourage baby to be “sunny side up”. Ideal position for baby is to be face-down so that their soft nose is connecting to low back (therefore avoiding ‘back labour’). Sitting up on an exercise ball is a great choice when working at a desk or at home. Cat/cow exercises on the floor are also a wonderful exercise to encourage baby to be in the best position.

3.  Make a list: whether it be planning when to get your baby’s car seat checked to meeting a girlfriend for tea, these can all be written down and checked off! The more organized you are, the more relaxed you can feel and be best prepared for baby’s arrival.
