Breech baby? There is hope!
Breech baby? There is hope!
Today I was very blessed to have all pregnant woman in my office! Some very newly pregnant (4 weeks!) and others nearing the end of their pregnancy.
A couple of these women had babies who were in breech position. They both intuitively knew that there was something we could do and booked in right away.
Here are some treatment options Naturopathic Doctors can use to help:
1. Moxabustion–used for thousands of years to flip babies, this technique uses a heated moxa stick (which looks like a stick of charcoal, but it made out of a herb mugwort) over the acupuncture point Bladder 67. Studies have shown that by doing this 2 x/day for 15 minutes at 33 weeks can help to keep baby head down or encourage baby to turn to the head down vertex position.
2. Hypnotherapy–by helping a mom to deeply relax in their body and mind, there can be just enough room given for the baby to safely and effectively turn.
3. Homeopathy–depending on which position the baby is in (horizontal, complete breech, frank breech etc) in addition to other symptoms mom is experiencing, can help to determine which remedy is appropriate.
