Headaches happen in children more often that we realize as adults, apparently it happens in a third of children who are above 7 years old and half of children over 15 years old. These headaches can greatly impact a child’s ability to think, connect to friends, and learn. At such an important part of a child’s life – suffering with headaches is not acceptable.
Chiropractic care can be very helpful for a child suffering with headaches. This is because Chiropractic care addresses the neck, spinal, jaw, and nerve component of the headaches – without the use of drugs or surgery.
Here is a case study that found improvement in an 8 year old girl who was suffering with neck pain and cervicogenic (neck pain creates the headache) headaches. The girl also had poor postures and reduced movement of her neck. After a chiropractic examination it was found that she had subluxations along her spine right up to the first vertebrae in her neck. Not surprisingly, subluxations in this area of the spine can directly create headaches and tension in the neck.
The headaches that this girl was experiencing were worsening over 4 months, even after being checked by her family doctors and trying Tylenol. Fortunately, she received Chiropractic care and improved in 3 weeks to the point where she wasn’t suffering from headaches anymore!
